Patriots FB leaves game early with injury, questionable to return
New England Patriots fullback Reggie Gilliam left the field of play in Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills with an ankle injury.
He is listed as questionable to return.
The offensive veteran was limited this week with a knee injury, but he fought to be available for this matchup against his former team.
His presence in the offensive backfield was expected to spring the rushing attack for the Patriots, but the injuries along the offensive line have made it hard for the run game to get going. Still, Gilliam is a versatile option with the ability to run, block and serve as an extra pass-catcher.
On one play early in the game, Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels had a formation with Gilliam spread out wide.
With Gilliam sidelined, the Patriots could try to get creative with tight end Cameron Latu to aid in the efforts of their top running backs, Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson.
