Patrick Reed delivers verdict on Donald Trump’s DP World Tour venue in Scotland
This week’s Nexo Championship on the DP World Tour is taking place at the Trump International Golf Links in Scotland.
The Aberdeen venue is considered one of the best courses in Scotland and will challenge even the world’s top players.
Race to Dubai leader Patrick Reed, probably the most recognisable player in the field, was very impressed by Donald Trump’s venue.
Here are Reed’s complimentary comments on the course before and after his first round at the Nexo Championship.
Patrick Reed praises Donald Trump’s DP World Tour golf course
Patrick Reed praised Donald Trump’s stunning golf course in Aberdeen ahead of this week’s Nexo Championship.
“It’s awesome to be back out on the road playing, especially back out here on the DP World Tour at such an awesome venue,” Reed said.
“I haven’t been here before, but the golf course is outstanding. The golf course is stunning to look at. The way it plays, it all really depends.
“We haven’t had very much wind during practice, and because of that, the golf course is a little easier, but this golf course definitely has its challenges for sure.”
However, the weather turned on Thursday, making the golf course much more difficult than it had been during the practice rounds.
Reed carded an even-par 72 in the opening round following back-to-back birdies on the last two holes at Trump International Golf Links.
He told the DP World Tour website: “Obviously, with how cold it got this morning, it started raining, and with how heavy the wind was, the golf course played completely different from Monday through Wednesday.”
The weather forecast suggests it will be fairly cold throughout the tournament, although it is not expected to rain.
