Palace reacquire Guessand on season-long loan deal

Crystal Palace have signed Evann Guessand on a season-long loan deal from Aston Villa.

The 25-year-old also spent the second half of the 2025-26 campaign with the Eagles, helping them win the Conference League.

After also featuring during Villa’s Europa League triumph, Guessand became the first player to win two different European trophies in the same season.

Overall, Guessand scored twice in 14 appearances last season for Palace, who now have an option to buy the forward at the end of his loan deal.

Guessand, who made two appearances for Ivory Coast at the World Cup this summer, now wants to achieve big things in the Premier League and Europa League.

“I’m so happy to be here,” Guessand told the club website.

“I already have good memories here – but I think it’s only the beginning. I hope many more are coming.

“I enjoyed it a lot last season because we played in Europe. I know for the club it’s not usual, but we played European football and had some good games, and some great nights at Selhurst Park.

“And of course, we finished with this amazing trophy. I enjoyed it because, obviously I like my teammates, and I like the way we are strong as a team.

“I want to go as far as possible. Firstly in Europe because as I said, I played this competition before and I know we can achieve something.

“And then for the Premier League as well, I think we can compete with the best teams in the league.”

Guessand is Palace’s fourth signing under new boss Pierre Sage, following the arrivals of Oscar Mingueza, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Dwight McNeil.

The Eagles get their 2026-27 Premier League underway on August 22, when they travel to Everton.
