The Cleveland Browns are setting up to make a quarterback trade by the end of the offseason, and if the Green Bay Packers felt like upgrading on their backup situation of Tyrod Taylor and Kyle McCord, maybe they could get involved.

Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders are competing for the starting QB job, and Taylen Green is the new, athletic draft pick.

Dillon Gabriel? He seems to be on the outside looking in. Maybe in reality, he’d be QB3 ahead of Green, but if the Browns are keeping Green, then Gabriel is even less key to have on the roster.

That sets him up as a trade candidate. While he wouldn’t fetch a huge return, Gabriel is probably worth a little something on the trade market.

Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton assessed Gabriel’s value in a new article and suggested that he’d be worth a 2027 sixth-round pick and 2028 seventh-round pick in a trade.

The Packers signed Taylor after a bunch of other QB options were off the board, and they needed someone like him to replace the departed Malik Willis.

Taylor isn’t a guy who would be around for the long haul, though, and McCord is less proven in the NFL so far than Gabriel.

If the lefty came that cheap, maybe he’d be worth considering.

“As Watson and Sanders battle for the lead position, the Browns can shop Gabriel, who, in limited action, posted solid passing numbers,” Moton writes. “At 5’11”, 205 pounds, he’s a smaller quarterback, but teams may see him as a solid backup or potential fill-in starter.”

Jordan Love gets hurt often for the Packers, and as long as that keeps happening, the backup position will be quite important.

Gabriel isn’t a perfect answer, but he certainly looks like he’ll be available.
