Packers’ 3 biggest concerns entering 2026 season

The Green Bay Packers are days away from kicking off their 2026 season, entering another campaign with hopes of winning a Super Bowl title.

Like any team, they have their issues, and some of their weaknesses are more pressing than others, with bigger potential to derail their championship aspirations.

Here are the three biggest positions of concern for Green Bay for the 2026 season:

The biggest blinking red light on the entire Packers roster may be the offensive line, which has the potential to seriously undermine the offense this season.

There is an upside case for the O-line and an argument to be made that it could improve from a disappointing 2025, but much of that is based around the idea of the group being healthier this time around.

With just days to go until the season opener, that seems very much up in the air, as at least publicly, the Packers do not seem to know whether Aaron Banks or Zach Bako-Bewele will suit up on Sunday.

Speaking to the media on Tuesday, offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich said the O-line is: “still a work in progress unfortunately with the injury situations (with) Banks and Zach (Bako-Bewele). We have plans for everything, and we’re gonna make the best of it, whoever’s out there.”

It can be debated how much of a loss Banks would be, but if Bako-Bewele misses games this season, it could be a huge problem for Green Bay.

Very little information has been offered up regarding the specific symptoms he is dealing with, but for argument’s sake, if his recovery from patellar surgery has not been clean, and it is a case of managing the situation all season, that is a potentially scary place to be.

Bako-Bewele is supposed to be the one sure thing on the Packers offensive line. If he is not playing, all bets are off for how big of an issue the unit could be.

The Packers did what they could to address the cornerback position in the offseason, hitting it in free agency and the draft with Benjamin St-Juste and Brandon Cisse, respectively.

The early returns look promising for rookie second-round pick Cisse, but he is yet to play a regular season NFL snap, and St-Juste was not exactly a premium investment. Keisean Nixon looks set to start across from Cisse, and his erratic performances are well documented.

Particularly early in the year when Micah Parsons is not around to force the ball out early and Cisse is getting to grips with the NFL, Green Bay’s corners may simply be hanging in there, and it is fair to question whether they have the personnel to match the best receivers in the playoffs.

At this stage, no one knows how many games Josh Jacobs is going to play for the Packers this year, as he begins the season on the commissioner’s exempt list.

Early on in the year, they will be going with a three-headed backfield of MarShawn Lloyd, Chris Brooks and Kaleb Johnson, and it remains to be seen whether that combination is a viable formula for success on the ground.

If Jacobs’ absence is lengthy, it is possible an underwhelming running back trio toils behind an offensive line which may not be building them a platform for success.
