After the Aspiration scandal between Kawhi Leonard and the Los Angeles Clippers, many thought that was the only controversy that was present between the two parties. They tried ending the partnership by shipping him off to the Toronto Raptors, but the NBA has continued to investigate that situation.
Investigative journalist Pablo Torre was the one who broke the news of the Aspiration scandal in the summer of 2025. After digging in deeper, it seems Torre has found yet another shady controversy involving Leonard and the Clippers.
Pablo Torre unearths yet another Kawhi Leonard controversy
The Clippers made an innovative change to their team when they started the construction of the Intuit Dome, their new home arena. They started using the arena in August 2024, and it has been a big hit for both the organization and the fans watching live.
One of the biggest strengths they have is their massive circular jumbotron aptly called the Halo Board. It is a massive double-sided 4K halo-shaped video screen that was built by the company called Daktronics. That company matters because they are involved in this new controversy that Torre has shared with the public.

From Torre’s sources, it has been revealed that Leonard had a hidden multimillion-dollar “sponsorship” with Daktronics. That is a massive red flag yet again for Leonard and the Clippers because it has shown that they were adding even more money on top of his contract and the alleged Aspiration deal.
“This Kawhi deal was not just talked about by higher-ups with the Clippers to circumvent the salary cap… This second source was also told that Kawhi’s Daktronics sponsorship was a multimillion-dollar deal,” Torre revealed on his Pablo Torre Finds Out show.
This controversy is another massive problem for Leonard, the Clippers, and even the Raptors. Of course, the Raptors’ side of this will be them not getting the player they want. However, it is more serious for Leonard and the Clippers because this is their second salary cap circumvention controversy, and it could lead to huge repercussions from the NBA if Torre’s reporting is accurate.
