“Outrageous and Indefensible”: Skip Bayless Fumes as Michigan Secure Hail Mary Win Over Western Michigan

The Michigan Wolverines’ season opener against the Western Michigan Broncos ended in the most dramatic way possible.

Western Michigan looked to have sealed a remarkable upset when Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood’s Hail Mary attempt landed out of bounds as time expired. However, despite TV replays showing that the clock had hit zero before the ball hit a Western Michigan defender, officials put a second back on the clock, giving the Wolverines one more play. This time, Underwood connected with wide receiver JJ Buchanan for a 47-yard score, sealing a controversial win.

Sports analyst Skip Bayless said it was unfair that the Wolverines were awarded one more play to score.

“Giving Michigan one more play just might’ve been the most outrageous and indefensible home cooking I’ve ever witnessed,” Bayless wrote.

Skip Bayless is glad the Michigan Wolverines won

Even though Skip Bayless called out the manner of the Michigan Wolverines’ victory, he was still glad about the result. In another post on X/Twitter, Bayless said that as an Oklahoma Sooners fan, he’d rather they face the Wolverines after a win than a loss.

“Outrageous and Indefensible”: Skip Bayless Fumes

“As an Oklahoma fan, I’m glad Michigan managed to pull out its first game under Kyle Whittingham. Would not have wanted my Sooners going up to Ann Arbor next Saturday with the Wolverines seething after a home loss to Western Michigan,” Bayless shared.

Brent Venables’ Sooners are scheduled to face Kyle Whittingham’s Wolverines on Saturday, Sept. 12.
