Osun Guber: Oyetola still suffering from last election defeat – Gov Adeleke

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has said that the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, is still suffering from the pain of his defeat in the 2022 governorship election in the state.

DAILY POST reports that Oyetola, who was going for a second term as candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, lost to Adeleke, then of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the governorship poll.

Adeleke made the assertion on Tuesday at the Arise TV Town Hall on the Osun State governorship election.

Oyetola had on Saturday told Adeleke to prepare for defeat in the August 15, 2026 governorship election, saying his endorsement of President Bola Tinubu would not save his administration.

Reacting, Adeleke said, “Oyetola is still suffering from the pain of the defeat I gave him in the 2022 Osun State governorship election.

“Oyetola, if you’re listening to me, just because I defeated you, go and sit down. He’s using President Tinubu’s name to allow people to be killed.

“He arrested Accord members, and I had to talk to Bishop Matthew Kukah because I didn’t want to attend the peace signing. They only released about 14 after Kukah started talking, and one of our candidates is still languishing in jail in Abuja. For what?

“If you know you can win, why are you arresting my people? Why are you using federal might to arrest and intimidate? Osun people are ready. The work I’ve done speaks for itself. Come this Saturday, I will be victorious.”
