Osun decides: Voters neutralise APC thugs [VIDEO]

Residents in Iree, Osun State, have reportedly confronted and subdued suspected political thugs during the ongoing governorship election.

A video circulating on social media showed a group of residents confronting an individual they alleged was an All Progressives Congress, APC, thug.

The development comes amid heightened concerns over vote buying and election-related violence in parts of the state.

The source of the video claimed that residents had “come out to neutralize one of APC thugs in Iree,” adding that the incident demonstrated the determination of voters to protect their ballots.

Earlier, another video purportedly showed some Osun youths seizing money allegedly meant for vote buying by APC supporters.

DAILY POST reports that voters across Osun State are electing the next occupant of the Bola Ige Government House for a four-year term.

A total of 15 political parties are on the ballot, with incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking re-election on the platform of the Accord Party.

Two candidates, Adesina Adeyemi-Doro of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Simon Adewale of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), had announced their withdrawal from the contest.

While Adeyemi-Doro endorsed APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, Adewale declared support for Adeleke. Both APGA and APM, however, remain on the ballot.
