The Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, has raised concerns over the malfunctioning of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) during the ongoing governorship election.
Adewusi cast his vote at Ilode Ward 1 (Ilode I), Unit 001, located at Enuwa Square, Palace Frontage, Ile-Ife, in Ife East Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking after voting, the deputy governor said the election commenced smoothly, with security personnel, electoral officials and voters present at the polling unit.
However, he said the malfunctioning BVAS machine was slowing down the accreditation process and causing delays.
“The election started on a very good note. The security are on ground, INEC people are on ground, and voters too. But the problem now is that the BVAS is causing a lot of problems. It is malfunctioning.
“So, my appeal now is for them to change the BVAS machine or have a backup so that this thing can move as quickly as possible,” he said.
Adewusi urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to promptly address the technical challenges to prevent unnecessary delays and enable eligible voters to cast their ballots without difficulty.
DAILY POST reports that the voting exercise recorded a significant turnout, with residents arriving early at the polling unit to participate in the election.
