OSSAP-SDGs Has Delivered Over 12,000 Classrooms Nationwide, Orelope-Adefulire Says

The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs) has facilitated the construction of more than 12,000 classroom blocks and ensured that each of Nigeria’s 360 federal constituencies benefits from at least one fully furnished six-classroom block as part of efforts to improve access to quality education.

This was disclosed in a keynote address by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, which was delivered by her representative at the Gazelle News Anniversary Lecture and Award held on Wednesday at Ballmont Black Hotel, Lagos.

Speaking on the theme, “Driving Grassroots Governance with Public-Private Partnership: The Gains, the Challenges,” the representative said the Office has prioritised education as a critical pillar of sustainable development, noting that investments in schools are investments in Nigeria’s future.

According to her, OSSAP-SDGs has gone beyond constructing classrooms by rehabilitating hundreds of school buildings and supplying millions of exercise books and thousands of computers to schools across the country.

“Today, every one of Nigeria’s 360 Federal Constituencies has benefited from at least one fully furnished block of six classrooms delivered through the Office. Beyond this, we have facilitated the construction of over 12,000 classroom blocks, rehabilitated hundreds more and supplied millions of exercise books and thousands of computers to schools across the country,” the representative said.

The representative added that the interventions were designed to ensure that children, particularly those in underserved communities, have access to a conducive learning environment.

“For us, these are not simply construction projects. Every classroom represents children whose dreams have been given a better chance. Every desk represents hope. Every school represents an investment in Nigeria’s future,” the representative quoted Orelope-Adefulire as saying.

She stressed that the achievements were made possible through strategic partnerships among government institutions, development partners, the private sector and other stakeholders committed to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The representative further noted that the Office remains committed to expanding educational opportunities and ensuring that development reaches every community across the country through sustained collaboration and inclusive governance.
