Orlando have ‘no other focus’ than winning against Salt Lake, insists Dorsey

Syndicated reporting provided by Stats Perform and reviewed by the SoccerNews editorial team.

Orlando City SC defender Griffin Dorsey insisted they have “no other focus than getting three points against Real Salt Lake on Saturday”.

Orlando have struggled in recent weeks, failing to win any of their last three MLS outings (D1 L2) after returning from the World Cup break with back-to-back victories.

Last time out, Orlando fell to a 2-1 defeat against the Chicago Fire to leave them 10th in the Eastern Conference, three points off the play-off places.

Ahead of hosting RSL, Dorsey’s only objective is to help Orlando get back into the win column.

“I think ultimately it’s just about getting a win,” said the defender.

“There’s really no other focus than getting three points against Salt Lake on Saturday. For us, it’s just about controlling what we can control.

“Doing our job individually will only help the group do their job as a whole. It’s just about maintaining good details and good focus for the game on Saturday.”

RSL are also in poor form, failing to win any of their five games since returning from the break (D2 L3).

Their results seemed to be changing for the better after securing a place in the quarter-finals of the Leagues Cup, but RSL have only drawn against Minnesota United and lost to FC Dallas since.

They lost 4-3 to Dallas, conceding a 90th-minute winner at home to extend their winless run in MLS.

Orlando City SC – Antoine Griezmann

Antoine Griezmann contributed to nine of Orlando’s 16 shots against Chicago (five chances created, four shots).

It was the first time an Orlando player had at least four shots and four chances created in an MLS match since Martin Ojeda did so last October at Toronto FC.

Saba Lobjanidze has three assists in his first five appearances with Real Salt Lake, despite coming off the bench in all five.

Lobjanidze, who did not record his first substitute assist until July 22, is tied with Paul Marie for most assists by a substitute this season (three).

MATCH PREDICTION: ORLANDO CITY SC WIN

Real Salt Lake are winless in six straight regular-season matches (D3 L3), with four of those matches coming on the road (D2 L2).

They have also managed just two wins in their last 21 regular-season away matches (D7 L12), including going winless in seven straight on the road (D3 L4).

However, RSL have won two of their last three meetings with Orlando (D1), with both wins coming at America First Field, though the last was over three years ago (July 2023).

Orlando have never lost to RSL at home, winning once and drawing twice, with the last meeting at Inter.co Stadium coming in February 2020.
