Oregon WR Jeremiah McClellan suffered broken foot before Portland State blowout

Oregon wide receiver Jeremiah McClellan is set to miss an extended amount of time.

Ducks coach Dan Lanning said Monday that McClellan had suffered a broken foot in warmups ahead of the team’s 84-0 win over Portland State on Friday night. McClellan didn’t play in the game after suffering the injury in what Lanning described at his news conference as “kind of a weird deal.” McClellan watched the game from the sidelines with his left foot in a boot.

McClellan entered the season as Oregon’s leading returning receiver. In 2025, he had 38 catches for 557 yards and three touchdowns. In the first two games of 2026, he had seven catches of 170 yards and a touchdown. Most of that production came in the Ducks’ win over Boise State; McClellan had six catches for 150 yards and that TD in the season-opening victory.

His injury comes after Oregon’s wide receiver room dealt with a lot of injuries in 2025. Evan Stewart missed all of last season because of a knee injury and Dakorien Moore and Gary Bryant Jr. each missed multiple games because of injuries.

Though McClellan is out for the foreseeable future, Lanning did say that tight end Jamari Johnson should be available against USC in Week 4. Johnson has missed the last two games — including the team’s Week 2 loss to Oklahoma State — with an injury. He also scored a touchdown in the Boise State win.

The trip to USC was always going to be a pivotal game for Oregon’s Big Ten and College Football Playoff chances, but it’s taken on an even bigger postseason meaning following the Oklahoma State loss. If Oregon drops to 2-2 after Week 4, the Ducks are looking at needing to go undefeated over their final eight games of the regular season to have a realistic chance of making the playoff.
