The third full week of the high school football season had its fair share of eye-popping plays from all over the country. One play in particular seemed to strike a chord with most as USA TODAY Sports top Play of the Week.
A 75-yard interception by Orange Lutheran junior King Rich Johnson in the Lancers win over Basha (AZ) was voted USA TODAY Sports Play of the Week by the USA TODAY Sports audience.
Down 10-7 late in the first half, Basha quarterback Jake Rogers was hit as he threw a deep pass that found the hands of King Rich Johnson. Blowing past Basha players, escaping outstretched arms and breaking a few tackles along the way, Rich Johnson scored to put Orange Lutheran ahead for the first time.
That touchdown would prove to be the difference in the game as Orange Lutheran would go on to beat Basha 23-17.
