Ondo state suspends 27 secondary students over gross misconduct

He expressed concern over an uptick in sub-cultural vices among public school students, explicitly citing bullying, street fighting, truancy, and the digital recording and circulation of indecent videos on social media platforms.

Active Containment and Shared Parenting Burden

Under the terms of the ministry’s executive order, the 27 affected students are completely barred from entering their respective school premises or participating in any academic or extra-curricular activities until further notice.

The Ministry stated that the files of the suspended students have been turned over to the internal disciplinary committees of the respective schools.

These committees will work in direct partnership with ministry officials to review each case on its merits before a final decision regarding expulsion or guided rehabilitation is made.

Dr. Ige concluded by reminding parents that character formation cannot be left solely to the state.

As of the time of filing this report, the internal management teams of Oyemekun Grammar School, Aquinas College, and CAC Grammar School were still processing internal student records and had not issued independent statements.
