Tensions rise ahead of Ole Miss football versus LSU on Saturday. The Tigers are expecting to see new levels of enmity due to Lane Kiffin returning to Oxford for the first time. Security for the visitors rises as a topic of concern before the game.

Ole Miss took this step in addressing that. The school built a fence for the visiting team bus, which Pete Nakos of On3 revealed Thursday.

Kiffin left the 2025 College Football Playoff team before the 12-team tournament began. He accepted the LSU job in Nov. 2025, but chose a longtime rival over the Rebels which sparked the Kiffin backlash. Kiffin assistant Pete Golding eventually took over as head coach and guided a CFP semifinals run.

But Ole Miss is still putting its foot down in front of LSU fans who head to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Ole Miss fired off this statement directed at visiting fans who try to sit in the student section.

“No person wearing an opposing team’s gear or colors will be allowed entrance into the student section,” the school statement reads. “Additionally, anyone found to be wearing opposing team apparel or colors in the student section will be removed.”

So Ole Miss is making sure there’ll be no purple or gold as the Rebel fans cheer their team on. But this game will draw one of the louder crowds in the 2026 football season. Especially with Kiffin making his highly-anticipated return.

Both teams arriving ranked No. 7 (LSU) and No. 8 (Ole Miss) fuels the intrigue for this SEC showdown. Ole Miss wide receiver Deuce Alexander dished out the strongest, most colorful description for the game, though. Alexander warns that a “bloodbath” will take place in Oxford.
