Terem Moffi (27) has completed a move from OGC Nice to Hamburg. The Nigerian forward had spent the second half of last season on loan at FC Porto in the Portuguese top flight.

Nice had been desperate to offload Moffi this summer. The Nigeria international was one of two players to leave the club following an episode back in November. Upon the return of Le Gym’s team bus, following a defeat against FC Lorient, fans attacked players and staff. Moffi was a particular target of the fans’ ire and he, alongside Jérémie Boga, was put on sick leave.

He would not play again for Nice and would depart on loan in January. Boga also left, joining Juventus, initially on loan. That move has now been made permanent. Moffi, however, has returned. He was present for the return to pre-season training on Wednesday and is under contract until the end of the season.

“He is on the list of players we want to leave. He will surely be transferred elsewhere,” said Roger Ricort, who has succeeded Florian Maurice in the role of sporting director over the summer. Moffi has now left on a permanent deal. In a short communiqué, Le Gym simply said: “OGC Nice today announce the transfer of Terem Moffi to Hamburg.”

The fee has not been disclosed by the Ligue 1 club.
