Chelsea midfielder Dario Essugo (21) has signed for BlueCo-owned Ligue 1 side RC Strasbourg on a season-long loan, both clubs have announced. The Portuguese defensive midfielder has taken Strasbourg’s third and final loan spot from Chelsea, after the Alsatians previously agreed to sign Filip Jörgensen and Genesis Antwi for the campaign ahead. Essugo, who only joined the Blues last summer in a €22m move from Sporting CP, looks to be the final piece of the BlueCo puzzle, after Deivid Washington secured a permanent move to the Ligue 1 side.
Essugo joined Chelsea FC from Sporting CP last year. His Chelsea spell has been marred by a serious thigh injury sustained in September 2025 that required surgery and ruled him out for several months. He only featured eight times for Chelsea. Essugo could make his Ligue 1 debut on Sunday against Troyes.
