Official | Monaco’s Thilo Kehrer joins Ajax on loan

Thilo Kehrer (29) has joined Eredivisie side Ajax Amsterdam on a season-long loan, it was confirmed on Wednesday.

Previously a key player for Les Monégasques, he looks set to be a second-choice option this season under new manager Filipe Luís. The Germany international has played just one minute of football in all competitions this season, against Le Havre AC on the opening day of the season. It is Eric Dier and Sadibou Sané who look to be Luís’ first-choice centre-back pairing. Christian Mawissa also seems to be above Kehrer in the pecking order, although the German does bring valuable experience and leadership to this young side.

No buy option included in Kehrer’s Ajax loan

This will now be an asset for Ajax, who have completed the signing of the Germany international on a season-long loan. It is a straight loan for the defender; no buy option has been inserted in the deal.
