Kamario Taylor started the season hot. He led Mississippi State to four straight wins and was putting himself into the Heisman conversation. Then, he struggled against Alabama, as the Bulldogs lost. He was also injured in the game. Taylor missed the game against LSU, as Mississippi State lost 31-0.

Now, head coach Jeff Lebby is giving an update on his quarterback, per Robbie Faulk of State 1878.

Lebby noted that Taylor was not fully ready to play against LSU and therefore was held out.

He also added, “he’s not going to wake up tomorrow and be 100% healthy. We’re going to have to manage it.”

Taylor has completed 102 of 154 passes for 1,450 yards with 17 touchdowns this year. He also has run for 159 yards and a touchdown this year. Further, Taylor has taken care of the ball, with just four interceptions this year. Freshman Parker Puckett has taken over for Taylor. He completed three of six passes for 26 yards against Alabama. Then, against LSU, getting his first career start, he struggled. Puckett completed just 16 of 26 passes for 121 yards. Further, he threw an interception and was sacked three times. He did run 11 times overall for a total of 40 yards, but could not lead Mississippi State on a scoring drive.
