Official: Barcelona complete La Liga registration of two summer signings; squad now complete

Barcelona have completed the final administrative step of their summer transfer business after Gabriel Jesus and Dominik Livakovic were officially registered with LaLiga.

The pair were the only Barcelona signings still waiting for their registrations to be completed, meaning Hansi Flick now has every senior arrival available for official competition. 

Gabriel Jesus will take the No. 9 shirt, following Robert Lewandowski’s departure, while Livakovic, who has signed until 2030, has been assigned No. 25.

Their registration brings an end to a transfer window in which Barcelona had to work within financial fair play restrictions, although the limitations were less severe than it was in previous summers.

Jesus and Livakovic finally cleared to play

Gabriel Jesus joined Barcelona from Arsenal in a deal worth around €10 million plus variables, while Livakovic arrived from Fenerbahçe for €2 million plus €500,000 in variables.

Both players had already completed their moves to Catalonia, but their inability to be registered meant they could not officially feature for Barça.

That issue has now been resolved. Gabriel Jesus can begin competing for the No. 9 shirt, while Livakovic becomes an officially registered option for Flick in goal.

The Croatian goalkeeper’s situation had been particularly uncertain. 

This is because Barcelona had even explored the possibility of sending him on loan to Dinamo Zagreb if they could not find a way to complete his registration.

That scenario is no longer necessary, as Livakovic will remain at Barcelona and is now available for selection.

Barcelona close the registration process

The latest registrations mean Barcelona have now completed the La Liga paperwork for all of their first-team signings this summer.

Rodri, Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi and Joao Cancelo had already been registered before Gabriel Jesus and Livakovic, leaving only the final two cases to resolve.

For now, Jesse Bisiwu is in a different situation because he is linked with the reserve team rather than being part of the same first-team registration process.
