Off-Day Open Thread

It is the last off-day of the regular season, before the series with the Reds.

I forgot that today was an off-day. I went to see what time tonight’s game was starting and whoops there isn’t a tonight’s game.

And there isn’t much for Jays news. Everything is about Vlad’s interview, and I think I said everything I need to yesterday. It was a clunky answer to a question, likely with a clunky translation. Everyone is stuck on that one answer.

He also said:

Every at-bat that I fail, I think about my contract, I know all these people who come to the games, they pay to see me being successful, to do something good every at-bat.

He said he’s disappointed in his season and in the team’s season.

Why do players hate doing interviews? Because they know one bad statement will be all that people will notice. I’ve only interviewed players a very few times and I always can see them trying to parse the question to see how I’m trying to screw them. It is hard to get them comfortable enough to get anything of interest. I understand that players don’t see the upside to doing interviews.

Anyway, I’m sure everyone’s tired of that particular story. Yeah, right.
