The management urged newly admitted students to take note of the dates and comply with the schedule to ensure a smooth transition into university life.

Registration and Orientation Begin November 2

In the statement, the university outlined the schedule for the commencement of activities for the new academic session, with fresh students expected to arrive a day before registration begins.

“The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has announced the schedule of activities for the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session, with newly admitted students expected to arrive in the University on Sunday, November 1, 2026,” the university said.

It added that online registration would begin on Monday, November 2, while the orientation programme would hold from November 2 to November 6.

The programme is intended to introduce new students to the institution’s academic structure and campus expectations, helping them understand the rules and traditions guiding university life.

The management’s directive places responsibility on newly admitted students to prepare for the scheduled activities and complete the necessary registration procedures within the stipulated period.

The university did not provide further details in the statement on registration requirements, payment deadlines or the consequences of failing to meet the scheduled dates.

ICT Training to Begin November 13

OAU also announced that information and communication technology (ICT) training for fresh students would commence on November 13, 2026.

According to the management, the programme is intended to equip newly admitted students with essential digital skills and familiarise them with relevant ICT facilities available on campus.

The training is expected to support students’ academic development by helping them understand and use technology-related resources during their studies.

The ICT programme will follow the registration and orientation activities, forming part of the university’s schedule for introducing fresh students to its academic environment and support facilities.

The management did not specify the duration of the training, the topics to be covered or whether attendance would be compulsory for all newly admitted students.

Returning Students to Resume November 15

Meanwhile, the university has fixed Sunday, November 15, 2026, as the resumption date for returning students for the 2026/2027 academic session.

Lectures are scheduled to begin on Monday, November 16, marking the commencement of academic activities for returning students.

The schedule places returning students’ resumption two weeks after the arrival date announced for fresh students, whose initial activities will include registration, orientation and ICT training.

The management urged both newly admitted and returning students to familiarise themselves with the timetable and comply with the stipulated dates.

The university said adherence to the schedule would help ensure a seamless commencement of academic activities for the new session.

With fresh students expected on campus from November 1 and returning students scheduled to resume on November 15, the announced timetable provides the framework for the opening weeks of OAU’s 2026/2027 academic session.
