Oak Ridge hires Denard Bertram from Austin-East as next basketball coach
Oak Ridge has hired Denard Bertram as its next basketball coach, the school announced May 19 on social media.
Bertram, who spent the last four seasons at Austin-East, replaces Aaron Green. Green announced after the season he was retiring after 27 years of coaching, 428 career wins and TSSAA state championship appearances in 2014 and 2025. Oak Ridge finished 18-13 last season was third in District 4-4A.
Bertram was previously an assistant under Green at Oak Ridge during their run to the TSSAA state championship game in 2014.
Bertram compiled an 82-53 record with the Roadrunners and led them to a state tournament appearance in 2024. He also coached at Midway and Concord Christian, and was an assistant on Harriman’s Class A state championship team in 2017.
