Behind a strong outing from Christian Scott, Jared Young’s third home run in six games and Luis Torrens’ first blast of the season, the Mets scored a 5-0 win over the Padres in the series opener on Friday.

It was the Mets’ third shutout victory of the season.

Now, the Mets can grab the series victory and ensure at least a .500 road trip with another triumph against the Padres at 10:10 p.m. Saturday night at Petco Park.

Nolan McLean snapped his own two-game losing streak last time out when he held the Marlins to one earned run in five innings to notch his third victory of the season.

It was a step in the right direction for the Mets rookie right-hander, who had allowed 16 earned runs in nine innings in his previous two outings.

McLean will enter his 13th start of the season with a 3-4 record, 4.21 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 77 strikeouts in 66⅔ innings.

Former Met Griffin Canning will be making his seventh start since returning from the ruptured Achilles tendon he suffered last season with New York. He has had an up-and-down season, posting an 0-4 record with a 7.16 ERA and 1.55 WHIP.

Canning allowed three earned runs in five innings against the Nationals last time out after posting a 6⅔ innings quality start with three earned runs previously against the Phillies.
