NY Mets announce lineup vs Philadelphia Phillies for today's game

PHILADELPHIA — The Mets’ topsy-turvy month of June has reached another crest after Thursday night.

The Mets used a pair of home runs from Juan Soto, along with a pinch-hit RBI single by Eric Wagaman and two-run triple from Marcus Semien, to take down the Phillies, 6-4 in the series opener.

Now, after an off day on Friday for a World Cup game in Philadelphia, the Mets and Phillies will play the second game of their series at 7:20 p.m. on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park.

The Mets have now won back-to-back games to move to 34-41. The Mets are 8-8 in the month of June, with no more than two wins or losses in a row. They have not gotten within six games of .500 since May 21. They’ll have that chance on Saturday.

The Phillies (40-35), meanwhile, have lost back-to-back games.

The Mets’ chance to win the series comes with a stiff challenge in the form of Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sanchez.

Through 15 starts, Sanchez has vaulted near the top of the NL Cy Young conversation. He enters Saturday with an 8-3 record, 1.82 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 116 strikeouts in 99 innings.

Sanchez had a streak of 50⅔ scoreless innings snapped in his first start of June. It was the fifth-longest stretch in major league history. But he is coming off a rare unsteady start when he allowed four earned runs in 5⅔ innings against the Brewers.

Freddy Peralta will be on the mound for the Mets. The veteran right-hander is 5-5 with a 3.90 ERA and 1.30 WHIP through 15 starts. He grabbed a win against the Braves last time out, holding them to one earned run on four hits and one walk in fie innings.
