NY and CT to compete for a spot in the Little League World Series Metro Region final

New York Little League state champion Port Washington fell short to Bayonne Central Little League (New Jersey) in Monday’s battle for a ticket to the Little League Baseball Metro Regional final.

Bayonne bested Port Washington, 12-2, to secure the program’s first regional final appearance. The team had 10 hits and held New York to three hits in the four-inning game.

Both New York and New Jersey emerged at the top of the group after defeating Rhode Island and Connecticut, respectively. Port Washington and Bayonne Central entered Monday’s game sharing the same goal: continuing their postseason run of firsts. Both teams had won their respective state championships for the first time in program history.

Monday’s loss puts Port Washington in the path of Connecticut’s Darien Little League team for Game 5 of the regional tournament. New York and Connecticut will play at 5 p.m. on August 12 in Bristol, Connecticut, with hopes of facing New Jersey in the Metro Region championship game.

The regional final is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on August 14 and will be streamed via ESPN.

New York will face Connecticut on August 14, with scores being updated live on GameChanger, the official scoring and statistics partner of Little League Baseball.

Little League Baseball regional semifinal and championship games will be streamed via ESPN.

Little League Baseball World Series 2026 games begin on Wednesday, August 19, with the U.S. Bracket games scheduled for 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 23. All games will be streamed on various ESPN platforms and ABC.
