NW QB Aidan Chiles is 'excited' to play MSU, former team this week

Former Spartans quarterback Aidan Chiles is ready to return to East Lansing, Mich. this week.

It seems apparent that Chiles has had this week’s matchup between Michigan State and Northwestern circled on his calendar for some time. Ahead of this week’s game, Chiles was asked if he was pumped to return to Michigan State to play against his former program, which he answered with a simple statement.

“I’m excited,” Chiles said. “Do I look excited? Hell yeah.”

You can see the video clip from Chiles in the embedded social media post below:

Chiles was the starting quarterback at Michigan State for nearly all of the last two seasons, coming to the Spartans with former head coach Jonathan Smith from Oregon State. Things never entirely panned out, though, with inconsistent play from Chiles plaguing the Spartans during his two seasons with the program. Once Smith was let go last year, Chiles shortly followed by entering the transfer portal and landing at Northwestern.

With Northwestern this season, Chiles has been impressive. He has led the Wildcats to a 4-1 start and top 25 ranking this week. He has completed over 70 percent of his passes for 1,172 yards and nine touchdowns compared to zero interceptions. He also has rushed for six touchdowns this season.

Michigan State is banged up and in the midst of a four-game losing streak. If Chiles continues to play as well as he has this season, then the Wildcats could be in for another impressive victory. We know that Chiles will be certainly extra motivated to get that done against his old team. That’s been made clear.
