Synopsis: The rural love story romance film "My African Bride" tells the story of Xie Xiaojun and his African wife Lulu returning to their mountain village. Xiaojun's mother, Li Cuihua, arranges a blind date for her son with Shen Ying, a college graduate serving as a village official, opposing the marriage. A wastewater leak occurs at the village's chemical plant, polluting the dam. Seeing the pollution, Xiaojun and Lulu suggest shutting down the plant, reminding everyone that "green mountains and clear waters are invaluable assets." To delay their son's marriage to Lulu, they stage a fake funeral. Following African tribal customs, the African girl performs an African dance at the supposedly dead funeral, "awakening" her grandfather, who is pretending to be dead. The villagers, ironically, come to like the African girl. Xiaojun sees his best friend Li Feng getting together with his first love, Shen Ying, and, conflicted, makes a rash decision. Lulu doesn't blame Xiaojun and, through heartfelt conversations with Shen Ying, becomes good friends with her. The village's general meeting of shareholders decided to shut down the chemical plant and instead focus on developing tourism and processing enterprises for local mountain products. To further disrupt Xiaojun and Lulu's wedding, Li Cuihua and Xiaoling uploaded photos of pollution from the village's factories, taken by Lulu, to the internet. Upon learning this, the villagers wanted to drive Lulu away. Xiaojun was furious, and Lulu left heartbroken. Li Cuihua eventually had a change of heart and confessed to Xiaojun that she had asked Xiaoling to upload the photos. Remorseful Xiaojun won Lulu back, and Li Cuihua accepted her African husband. The two held a grand traditional Chinese wedding in the village. The agricultural product processing plant opened, Li Feng and Shen Ying successfully became a couple, and Lulu became the village's tourism ambassador. Lulu and Xiaojun decided to stay in the village and work together to build a beautiful countryside.
