Werewolf Blood Trap chronicles the harrowing domestic nightmare of a young family struggling to cope with the tragic loss of their child. In their desperate grief, they resort to questionable and shadowy means to adopt a mysterious new child into their home. The fragile veneer of their rebuilt family life fractures permanently when the adoptive child bites the wife’s father. Soon, the grandfather exhibits terrifying physiological and behavioral changes, slowly and agonizingly transforming into a bloodthirsty werewolf, forcing the family to confront a primal terror hidden within their own household.
The film operates squarely within the parameters of independent survival horror, subverting the traditional werewolf mythos by filtering it through the lens of domestic melodrama and adoptive anxieties. Director John Orrichio (who previously helmed genre outings like Bigfoot Blood Trap and Paranormal Captivity) maintains a tight focus on the psychological dissolution of the family unit as the supernatural infection takes root.
