‘Normal take’ – Dave Portnoy defends Drake Maye saying he’s unsure if the U.S. moon landing was real

New England Patriots QB Drake Maye came under fire for questioning the authenticity of the 1969 Apollo 11 mission to land people on the moon.

Maye spent the first few weeks of the NFL season being criticised for a sudden drop-off in form that saw the reigning AFC Champions start the season with a 1-2 record, before a correction in form over the last two weeks.

Now, Maye is catching flak for expressing his doubts over the authenticity of the U.S. moon landing in 1969. Even with the backlash, Maye has one prominent Patriots fan in his corner: Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy.

Portnoy took to social media to defend Maye by calling his take on the moon landing normal while raising a pretty banal question as fact for his argument.

“Raise your hand if you saw us land a man on the moon in person with your own two eyes. Didn’t think so. Normal take. Find a new slant”

Denying the 1969 moon landing has been one of the major conspiracy theories of the last 60 years, alongside many other potentially damaging theories regarding other major world events.

Dismissing empirical evidence and facts to push a conspiracy theory simply because a lot of people were not alive when the moon landing happened sets a bad precedent for all of history, since humans today were not alive to witness most of it.

Maye appeared on WEEI’s ‘Rich and Ken with Ted Johnson’ on October 5 and shared his take on the moon landing, gaining support from the co-hosts who also believe that the moon landing was faked.

“I don’t know about the moon [landing.] I can see back in the day why we would put on the mask if we went there. But I’m not really sure 200 percent if we went there or not… I wouldn’t say I’m leaning one way or the other. I just know I’m a little bit skeptical.”

This interview also discusses the likelihood that director Stanley Kubrick shot the 1969 moon landing and that it was fed to people on a live broadcast.
