Nollywood actors and actresses have rallied support for veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, following an emotional appeal by his daughters for urgent medical assistance amid his battle with stage four cancer.
Actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo led the call for help, urging Nigerians and medical professionals to assist the family in finding specialists and treatment centres capable of reviewing Ogogo’s condition. “Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge battling cancer. “As shared by his family, they are NOT looking for money or financial support.
What they urgently need is medical direction. “If you know someone who knows someone in the oncology space, or a medical avenue that can assist, please help reach out to his family immediately,“ Adebayo wrote on X.
Actress Toyin Abraham also joined the campaign on Tuesday, sharing a video of Ogogo’s daughters on Instagram and appealing to those who could assist to contact the family. “Pls kindly send dm to @kira_taiwo @limataiwo_ or me pls.
Anyhow, anyone can help ejoor,” she wrote.
DAILY POST had earlier reported that Ogogo’s daughter, Shaki Taiwo, appealed for medical assistance for her father in a viral Instagram video on Monday night. https://dailypost.ng/2026/08/18/nollywood-actor-ogogo-diagnosed-with-cancer-children-solicit-help-video/ Shaki had revealed that the hospital stopped his treatment due to the severity of his condition.
Ogogo, 66, is one of the most recognisable veterans of Yoruba cinema, with an acting career spanning more than four decades.
He has featured in hundreds of films and remains a prominent figure in the Nigerian movie industry.
