No, the Jets absolutely shouldn't trade WR Garrett Wilson

The 2-6 New York Jetscould be sellers at the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 10. General manager Darren Mougey has less than one week to make those difficult decisions.

Superstar wide receiver Garrett Wilson has been linked to a potential trade.

No, the Jets absolutely shouldn’t trade Wilson. The star wideout has made it clear he hopes to remain in East Rutherford beyond the deadline. And Mougey shouldn’t entertain offers for his No. 1 receiver.

The 26-year-old Wilson is signed through the 2030 campaign. The former Ohio State standout won’t be on an expiring contract anytime soon. That certainly reduces any urgency to trade Wilson.

Furthermore, the Jets already possess three first-round picks in the 2027 NFL draft. They’ll arrive after Mougey made three first-round selections in the 2026 draft. How much draft capital does Mougey need to turn this franchise around? They have a treasure trove as is. Trading a 26-year star for additional draft capital feels totally unnecessary.

The Jets traded Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams for draft picks. They’ve rightfully sacrificed some stars for draft picks. But enough is enough. They’ll almost certainly utilize one of the upcoming 2027 selections on a future franchise quarterback.

The next quarterback will appreciate having Wilson at his disposal. This is a no-brainer decision. Don’t trade Wilson.
