No Fun League strikes again with absurd Kyle Juszczyk fine

The NFL (the No Fun League) is at it again. And this time, they’ve taken it too far.

According to a report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the league has fined San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk a whopping $14,926 for “engaging in an offensive demonstration” during the team’s Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins.

Juszczyk’s crime: A celebration that involved him pretending to chug a beverage. It’s a routine Juszczyk has done for years — in part because of his nickname, “Juice.” He had never been fined for the celebration, but the suits at NFL headquarters in New York apparently have now decided to punish him for it.

“Your imitation of chugging a beer constituted an offensive demonstration and could reasonably be construed as being in poor taste,” the league said in the letter sent to Juszczyk, per Schefter.

Poor taste? What makes the NFL think he was pretending to chug a beer? As Juszczyk even said in a text to Schefter, “I don’t even drink beer!”

Naturally, Juszczyk immediately appealed the fine, and the NFL would be wise to quickly accommodate his request.

The fine was asinine. Especially coming from a double-standard league where beer sales flow freely in their stadiums, and beer advertisements are seen and heard almost everywhere.

Juszczyk and the 49ers host the Arizona Cardinals at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Sunday, Sept. 27.
