
No. 22 Florida State picked up its first ACC win of the season Sunday afternoon, defeating No. 23 Clemson 2-1 on the road.
The win moved the Seminoles to 5-1-3 on the season, while Clemson moved to 6-3-3.
With players continuing to come in and out of availability, FSU once again made changes to its starting lineup. Kate Ockene started in goal alongside Bridget Mutipula, Nyanya Touray, Tanner Strickland, Peyton McGovern, Grace Hoytink, Joelle Jung, Nawreen Ahmad, Sam Erbach, Wrianna Hudson and Ryder Ajeto.
Florida State came out strong, taking an early lead just over six minutes into the game. At the 6:39 mark, Nyanya Touray found Erbach, who put the Seminoles on the board with her fourth goal of the season.

FSU quickly added another.
Less than three minutes later, Joelle Jung found Hudson, who scored at the 9:22 mark to give the Seminoles an early 2-0 advantage.

Clemson responded in the 20th minute, cutting FSU’s lead to 2-1, but the Seminoles continued to create opportunities. Erbach recorded another shot on goal in the 26th minute, but Clemson goalkeeper Reason came up with the save.
Nyah Rose had another opportunity for FSU late in the first half, but her shot was blocked at the 40:28 mark.
The Seminoles carried their 2-1 advantage into halftime and continued looking for another goal in the second half. Shaneil Buckley put a shot on goal at the 51:17 mark, but Reason made the save.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net again, allowing FSU to hold onto its one-goal advantage and leave Clemson with a 2-1 win.
Florida State finished with nine shots, including five on goal, while Clemson recorded 10 shots with four on goal. Ockene finished with three saves, while Clemson’s goalkeeper also recorded three. FSU held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks.
The Seminoles will return home to Tallahassee to take on North Carolina on Oct. 9 at 3:30 p.m.
