The Nigeria Police Force has arrested and repatriated a Chadian national, Mahadijiria Abdoulaye, who was wanted by authorities in N’Djamena over the alleged murder of Nazik Mahamat Saleh.
The Force, in a statement on Saturday by its spokesperson, CSP Ani Iniedu, said Abdoulaye was arrested by operatives of the INTERPOL National Central Bureau, NCB, Abuja, on August 5, 2026.
According to the statement, Saleh was tortured and killed on May 3, 2026, while an international warrant of arrest was issued by the Court of Appeal, N’Djamena, on June 22, for Abdoulaye and her alleged accomplice, Fatime Senoussi Mouktar.
The police said Abdoulaye, who is also linked to narcotics trafficking activities in Chad, fled to Nigeria following the incident.
She was traced and arrested at Railway Quarters, Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, following coordinated intelligence operations.
The police said Abdoulaye was repatriated to N’Djamena, Chad, on August 14 through Lomé, Togo, under established bilateral police cooperation arrangements.
The operation was carried out by INTERPOL NCB Abuja in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB N’Djamena to facilitate her return to Chad to face the judicial process.
The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the INTERPOL NCB Abuja operatives for their professionalism, diligence and coordination with their Chadian counterparts.
Disu said the arrest and repatriation demonstrated the commitment of the police to ensuring that fugitives do not evade justice by crossing international borders.
The Force also reaffirmed its commitment to using international policing channels and partnerships to track fugitives, disrupt trans-border criminal networks and prevent persons wanted for serious crimes from finding safe haven in Nigeria.
