A statement issued by Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Director of Naval Information, indicated that based on credible intelligence, personnel from the Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS, SOROH were deployed to the Okolomade Community in the Abua-Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State. It said that there, aerial surveillance and subsequent search operations resulted in the discovery of approximately 138 sacks filled with suspected illegally refined AGO, which were hidden beneath vegetation and at various sites along adjacent waterways.

The statement noted, “This operation underscores the increasing reliance on concealed creek-side storage locations by criminal organizations engaged in the illegal petroleum trade. “The recovered products were subsequently managed in accordance with existing regulations, effectively denying economic saboteurs access to resources meant to support their illicit activities.” The Nigerian Navy reiterated its commitment to maintaining intelligence-driven operations designed to disrupt crude oil theft and illegal petroleum distribution networks throughout the Niger Delta.
