Midway through the season, we’ve already seen which players deserve a spot on your fantasy football roster and which players should get cut from the team. Let’s analyze which players should not be on your fantasy football roster for Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season.
MarShawn Lloyd, Green Bay Packers
If you hadn’t dropped Lloyd before Week 7 in hopes that he’ll find a niche alongside Josh Jacobs, now’s the perfect time to do so. Lloyd was quiet in his first game alongside the returning Jacobs, getting just six carries for 20 yards. There’s no real reason to keep Lloyd on your roster now, and he’s better off being replaced by another waiver-wire pickup this week.
Aaron Jones Sr., Minnesota Vikings
Aaron Jones Sr. was a reliable running back for teams early in the season, but his production has fallen off a cliff in recent weeks. The nail in his coffin, though, is Jordan Mason’s much bigger workload in Week 7 before Jones’ injury. Between his current day-to-day status due to his injury and Mason’s return, the Vikings running back is a comfortable drop in regular leagues.

JK Dobbins, Denver Broncos
A similar case can be made for JK Dobbins, minus the injury concerns. Rookie Jonah Coleman outpaced Dobbins in touches last week, and his performance hasn’t justified him staying on a roster this week. Drop the veteran running back in favor of the rookie, if he’s available in your league.
Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints
Johnson had an electric start to the 2026 season, but his performance has cratered since then. In the last three games, Johnson has a total of 7.3 fantasy points. That includes a goose egg in Week 6. With New Orleans entering their bye week, it’s the perfect time to cut the veteran tight end loose in favor of a waiver-wire commodity.
Marvin Harrison Jr., Houston Texans
Harrison was picked up by many fantasy football managers a few weeks ago after being traded to the Houston Texans. However, he’s been languishing on the benches of these teams since, as his production hasn’t quite matched the hype of his new team. We can wait a few more weeks to judge if MHJ will play better with CJ Stroud, but he’s not worth a roster spot for now.
Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts
This one comes with a condition before he should be dropped. If Josh Downs gets traded to a WR-needy team like the Kansas City Chiefs, then he’s worth keeping. However, it’s quite clear that he (and any Indy offensive player not named Jonathan Taylor) will not thrive with the Colts this season. If Downs isn’t moved, look to drop the wide receiver and hope for a better player on the waiver wire.
Kyler Murray, Minnesota Vikings
If you’re starting Murray in your fantasy football, you’re either playing in a superflex league, or you’re completely out of luck at the quarterback position. Even in a two-QB league, though, there are surely better options at quarterback than the former first overall pick. If you can secure a quarterback for your team for Week 8, feel free to drop Murray. He’s also a comfortable cut in one-QB leagues.

Jordan Addison, Minnesota Vikings
In a similar vein, Addison is another player who should be cut. The Vikings’ offense has been truly abysmal this season, and Addison is one of the players adversely affected by the lack of a competent passing attack. Until we see signs of improvement from Murray or a change at the quarterback position, Addison should be sent to the waiver wire for the upcoming weeks.
