Newcastle United have turned down a £75 million bid from Tottenham Hotspur for Sandro Tonali, per reputed journalist Craig Hope.
Spurs narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship last season, but they have been ambitious in the transfer market this summer.
After completing deals for Jan Paul van Hecke, Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, Tottenham are targeting a move for Tonali.
They have already agreed personal terms with the 26-year-old.
The Lilywhites recently launched an opening £75m bid, which was rejected by Newcastle.
The Magpies are in a strong negotiating position, as Tonali is contracted until 2029, with the club also having an option to extend it by another year.
The Tyneside club maintain they will only sanction an exit if they receive offers over £100m.
Tottenham’s club-record signing is the £65m they paid for Dominic Solanke in 2024.
It remains to be seen whether they are prepared to meet Newcastle’s enormous valuation for their prized asset.
Tonali is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, known for his energy, creativity and passing ability.
He has made 110 appearances across all competitions for Newcastle, bagging 10 goals and 10 assists in the process.
Tonali was instrumental in helping his side win the 2024-25 League Cup, ending their 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy.
The Italian has no shortage of suitors, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United all credited with an interest in signing him.
