Newcastle Makes Decision on Tottenham’s £80 Million Sandro Tonali Offer

Newcastle United have finally landed a formal offer from Tottenham involving midfielder Sandro Tonali.

The Spurs sent an opening offer to the Magpies for Tonali heading into the weekend, as talks between clubs continue over a possible summer transfer, with Tottenham believed to have already approached the player and worked on personal terms with him.

The Daily Mail reported that Spurs submitted a £75 million bid “earlier this week,” but Newcastle turned it down.

Sky Sports, meanwhile, quoted the offer at around £80 million and also reported that Newcastle rejected it.

Tottenham have made Tonali a top target for Roberto De Zerbi as the club rebuilds after narrowly avoiding relegation last season. The Athletic also reported that Spurs have opened club-to-club talks with Newcastle after holding positive discussions with Tonali’s camp.

Newcastle have reportedly placed a £100 million price tag on the Italy international, with the club considering selling the player, whose contract runs until 2029 and includes a 12-month option, only for a figure of that value or greater.

Manchester City are also in the race to land Tonali, while Arsenal are monitoring developments, but neither of those two giants has launched official bids for now.

It is widely believed that Tonali wants to explore his options this summer and is likely to leave Tyneside, with his agent having called NUFC just a middle-step club on Tonali’s way to greener pastures amid the 2025-26 season.
