Newcastle make enquiry for RB Leipzig midfielder

Newcastle United are said to be showing interest in RB Leipzig midfielder Nicolas Seiwald.

According to Sky Germany, the Premier League club have enquired about the Austria international, with their new head coach, Matthias Jaissle, said to be a big admirer of the 25-year-old.

However, Seiwald is firmly in RB Leipzig’s plans for the upcoming season, and it would likely take a substantial offer for the Bundesliga club to consider selling him.

The midfielder, who was part of Austria‘s squad for the 2022 World Cup, joined RB Leipzig from RB Salzburg for a reported €20 million in the summer of 2023.

Since then, Seiwald has made 105 appearances for the German club. His contract runs until 2028.
