New Seattle Seahawks owner Vinod Khosla found himself on the receiving end of backlash after suggesting that he wouldn’t rule out moving the team to a new city.
Khosla purchased the Seahawks earlier this year following their Super Bowl LX win against the New England Patriots.
However, his recent comments about possibly relocating the team from Seattle to another city did not go down well with the fans.
Vinod Khosla denies wanting to relocate Seahawks out of Seattle
Taking to X to respond after his comments about relocating the team out of Seattle, new Seahawks owner Vinod Khosla tried to set the record straight.
He noted that he and his ownership group don’t have any plans to move the team out of Seattle, and suggested that reports took his comments out of context.
“To all Seahawks fans and 12s, we have no plans to move the team, have never discussed it, haven’t even thought about it. End of story.
“I’ve said repeatedly we have no plans to change anything. Feel sad for the reporters looking for views and clicks who distort my answer out of context and sent an entire city into a spiral for no reason.”
Whenever a new owner takes over a team, there is a concern that they might want to move the franchise somewhere else.
And Khosla previously not ruling out the possibility of moving the franchise only added to this concern, even if those comments may have been taken out of context.
The Seahawks have started the season really well, looking like the strongest team in the NFC and possible favourites to return to the Super Bowl this season.
Unfortunately, the talk about possibly moving the team, however unfounded it may seem to Khosla and the ownership brass of the Seahawks, has overshadowed their strong start to the year.
Hopefully, with Khosla’s statement, fans can abandon any concerns about the franchise being moved and can relish the strong start the Seahawks have made this season.
