New York Knicks fans waited 53 years for this celebration, so some supporters were not prepared to leave their championship parade view to chance.

The Knicks’ first NBA title since 1973 has turned the city into a long-running celebration, with the parade now set to bring the party to Lower Manhattan.

The official start was still nearly a day away when fans were already being spotted along the route. For a fanbase that has lived through decades of frustration, the early arrival made perfect sense.

Legion Hoops shared the scene on X, showing supporters already trying to secure their place before the Knicks’ title parade.

“Knicks fans are already getting their spots for the parade nearly 24 hours before it starts. Insane.”

The post captured the level of demand around the celebration, with supporters unwilling to risk being stuck too far back once the route fills up.

For many Knicks fans, this is not just another city parade, it is the first chance in their lifetime to celebrate an NBA championship in the streets of New York.

The early crowd also reflects how large the turnout is expected to be. City officials and local reports have prepared for hundreds of thousands of fans, with some estimates suggesting more than a million could gather for the Knicks’ return to the Canyon of Heroes.

When and where is the New York Knicks championship parade?

The Knicks’ championship parade is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2026, with the procession beginning at 10 a.m. ET in Lower Manhattan.

The route will follow the traditional Canyon of Heroes path, starting near The Battery and Bowling Green before moving north along Broadway toward City Hall. A ceremony is expected at City Hall after the parade, giving the team a formal end point for the celebration.

There are also practical reasons to arrive well ahead of time. Security checkpoints, street closures, and packed subway stations can turn the final hours before a major New York parade into a slow-moving scramble.

The Knicks ended the drought on the court by beating the San Antonio Spurs in the 2026 NBA Finals. Now their fans are making sure they have the best possible view of the celebration they waited half a century to see.
