New York Jets News: Glenn takes more humble approach heading into Year 2

· · 2 min read

Good morning Gang Green Nation! It was kind of a weird weekend at Jets training camp. Two of the last three days the Jets did not practice. The Jets claim they are following data that suggests this will keep the players healthy for when the real games begin. No doubt extra rest helps in that regard. However, training camps have been cutting back more and more on actual practice time. In addition, preseason games have been cut from four to three, and starters who used to see a good deal of action in the preseason now barely make occasional cameo appearances. The net effect of all this may well be healthier players in the aggregate for the regular season, but we also have seen teams look increasingly unprepared for the early season games.

The pads go on this week and the hitting starts, inevitably putting the players at an elevated risk level. There’s a balancing act here between health and preparation. Let’s hope the Jets are getting this balance right.
