19 Years Later, ‘Stargate SG-1’ Officially Returns With New Release

The last 12 months have been a roller-coaster ride for Stargate fans. Last November, a new reboot of the series from series veteran Martin Gero was announced by Amazon MGM Studios; then, earlier this year, that reboot was cancelled for allegedly not being accessible to new fans. Now, another reboot is in the works from WandaVision creator Jac Schaeffer. Before all that comes to fruition, however, fans have a new release from the classic Stargate: SG-1 TV series to look forward to.

Stargate began with the 1994 film of the same name; directed by Ronald Emmerich, who also co-wrote the script with Dean Devlin, the movie centered around the device of the title, an ancient mechanism built by an alien race that enabled its users to transport near-instantaneously between distant planets. A military team led by Colonel Jack O’Neill (Kurt Russell) and Dr. Daniel Jackson (James Spader) lead an expedition to an alien world that finds an alien dictator ruling human slaves as an alleged god. The movie was a hit, and spawned SG-1, a weekly science fiction TV series that starred Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Shanks as O’Neill and Jackson. It lasted for ten seasons, and spun off two other series of its own: Stargate Atlantis and Stargate Universe.

And now, while fans wait for news from the new series, they can keep their hands busy with two new Stargate SG-1 construction sets from BlueBrixx. The British toymaker, which produces building sets that are compatible with Lego and other similar blocks, is releasing two new sets from the series: the Goa’uld Symbiote and a Jaffa Battle Pack. The 400-piece Goa’uld Symbiote set depicts the fearsome serpentine foe of the SG-1 team, complete with its slithery body and gruesome jawed face. The Jaffa Battle Pack includes a small army of Jaffa warrior mini-figures, with multiple helmet and weapon variants; it also includes two buildable scenic pieces, an equipment crate, and two weapons emplacements. Both sets are coming soon; you can sign up to be notified when pre-orders open on BlueBrixx.com.

Your answers point to the iconic sci-fi hero who shares your instincts, your values, and your particular way of facing the impossible.

You carry a weight most people would crumble under — the knowledge of what you’re capable of, and the burden of what you might have to become.

  • You see further ahead than others and you plan accordingly, even when the vision frightens you.
  • You are driven by loyalty to your people and a sense of destiny you didn’t ask for but can’t escape.
  • Paul Atreides is not simply a hero — he is someone who understands the cost of power and chooses to bear it anyway.
  • That gravity, that willingness to carry what others won’t, is exactly you.

You lead with instinct, warmth, and an absolute refusal to accept a no-win scenario — because you’ve always believed there’s a third option nobody else has thought of yet.

  • You take the mission seriously without ever taking yourself too seriously.
  • Your crew would follow you anywhere, not because you demand it, but because you’ve earned it.
  • Kirk’s genius isn’t tactical — it’s human. He reads people, bends rules with purpose, and wills outcomes into existence through sheer conviction.
  • That combination of warmth, audacity, and relentless optimism is unmistakably yours.

You are the kind of person who holds the line when everyone else is losing faith — not because you’re fearless, but because giving up simply isn’t something you’re capable of.

  • You lead through conviction. Your voice carries because your belief is unshakeable.
  • You gave up everything ordinary the moment you chose the cause, and you’ve never looked back.
  • Leia is not a supporting character in her own story — she is the moral centre of the entire rebellion.
  • That same fierce, principled, unbreakable core is what defines you.

You are not reckless, not grandiose, and not particularly interested in being anyone’s hero — you just refuse to stop when it matters.

  • You see threats clearly, you document the truth even when no one listens, and when the time comes you handle it yourself.
  • Ripley’s heroism is earned, not performed. She doesn’t have a speech — she has a flamethrower and a plan.
  • You share her composure under the worst possible pressure, and her refusal to pretend the monster isn’t there.
  • When it counts, you don’t flinch. That’s everything.

You have been through fire that would break most people — and what came out the other side is something the world underestimates at its peril.

  • You don’t ask for help, don’t need validation, and don’t wait for anyone to tell you the rules no longer apply.
  • Your loyalty, when it finally arrives, is absolute — but it’s earned in silence and tested in action, not in words.
  • Max is not a nihilist. He is someone who lost everything and found, against his will, that he still has something worth protecting.
  • That bruised, stubborn, ultimately human core is exactly yours.

The eel-like Goa’uld aliens were body-invading parasites; once they entered a host, often a humanoid, they could completely control their actions. Ra, the villain of the original Stargate film, was a Goa’uld; he and his compatriots built a star-spanning empire built on slavery and tyranny. They created a genetically altered race, the Jaffa, to serve as their servants and shock troops; they possessed superhuman strength and durability, making them fearsome warriors. The free Jaffa named Teal’c (Christopher Judge) became a member of the SG-1 team.

The BlueBrixx Stargate: SG-1 Goa’uld Symbiote and Jaffa Battlepack sets are coming soon. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
