The New York Giants and head coach John Harbaugh came into Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams looking to improve to 2-0.

After knocking off the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1, the excitement surrounding the Giants has been obvious. Jaxson Dart and the offense looked very dangerous. Unfortunately, New York saw Dart go down with a serious looking injury early on against the Rams.

No one knows exactly what the outlook for Dart will be. Hopefully, the injury doesn’t end up being serious. But, if it is, New York may need to consider making a move at the quarterback position.

Jameis Winston is a solid backup option, but he isn’t an ideal starter. That has led to one intriguing suggestion for the Giants to consider.

Heavy’s Erik C. Anderson believes the New York should look into the idea of trading for San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones if the Dart injury ends up being serious.

“If the Giants believe this roster can win now, Jones gives them a more compelling bridge than most quarterbacks who would actually be available,” Anderson wrote.

Not only did Anderson suggest Jones as a trade target for the Giants, he also suggested a potential trade scenario between the two teams that could get a deal done.

In his suggested trade proposal, New York would acquire Jones from the 49ers in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick that would become a third-round selection if Jones reaches a certain playing time threshold.

Jones played a key role for San Francisco last season when Brock Purdy went down with injury. He played in 11 games, completing 69.6 percent of his pass attempts for 2,151 yards, 13 touchdowns, and six interceptions. Those numbers helped keep the 49ers afloat without their star quarterback on the field.

Originally drafted by the New England Patriots with the No. 15 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Jones has had an up-and-down career. However, it seems that he has turned a corner in San Francisco and would be well worth a look from the Giants.

Expect to hear an update on Dart in the near future. If he is force to miss an extended period of time, Jones could make a lot of sense as a target.
