Sparta Prague are weighing a move for Jablonec centre-back Nemanja Tekijaški as they look to replace departed defender Asger Sørensen, according to RUIK.cz.
It would be the second time Sparta have gone shopping at Jablonec for a defender in recent seasons.
Journalist Michal Sedláček writes that Sørensen’s exit to Copenhagen has left Sparta needing “at least one experienced top-class defender and director of play,” a profile Tekijaški fits after three seasons as Jablonec’s on-field leader.
Jablonec’s traditional ties with Sparta, which have produced transfers between the clubs before, are cited as another factor that could smooth a deal. Jablonec coach Luboš Kozel was asked directly about the speculation after a Conference League qualifier against Rangers, and told iSport.cz reporter Michal Kvasnica: “I hope not, perhaps,” when asked if Tekijaški could follow former teammate Jakub Martinec to Sparta.
Tekijaški, 29, is a Serbian centre-back who has become one of the Chance Liga’s best defenders over three seasons at Jablonec, adding eight goals from the back across that span, an unusually high output for a centre-back. Kozel has praised his recent partnership with new signing Dušan Pavlovič, underlining how central Tekijaški remains to Jablonec’s plans even as speculation about his future grows.
For Sparta, adding an experienced, goal-scoring centre-back with a track record as a defensive leader would address a specific gap left by Sørensen’s departure without needing to look abroad.
For Jablonec, losing a three-year captain-level figure would be a blow on the pitch, even if the club’s historical relationship with Sparta makes the transfer logic straightforward.
Status: This remains at the speculation stage. No formal Sparta bid has been reported, and Jablonec’s own coach has publicly said he hopes the move does not happen, but the background context around Sørensen’s exit makes the links persistent.
