NECO announces 2026 SSCE results, records sharp drop in malpractice

Responding to questions from journalists, Wushishi attributed part of the decline to the increasing use of computer-based examinations by NECO.

He said the adoption of computer-based testing had helped to curb some forms of examination malpractice during the council’s examinations.

On concerns over so-called “miracle centres”, the NECO registrar said the council was not associated with such centres.

Wushishi explained that NECO registers examination centres based on established requirements but does not operate or own private “miracle centres”.

He noted that the council owns only one school and therefore could not be linked to centres operating under that description.

The registrar added that any such centres, where they exist, would either be operated by state governments or privately owned entities, stressing that NECO does not support the practice.
