Nebraska in the top 30 for oldest average roster age in football

RotoWire College Football released a list this past week, compiling all 138 FBS teams and ranking them by the average age of their rosters. Nebraska sits high on the list, cracking the top 30 for one of the oldest rosters.

RotoWire determined the average age of a current college football roster is 20.3 years. The oldest roster belongs to UTSA at 21.02 years old, while Georgia holds the youngest roster at 19.81 years old. Nebraska is tied for 28th on the list with an average roster age of 20.51 years. In the Big Ten, the team is third.

USC houses the youngest roster in the conference at 19.87 years old. Michigan State leads the Big Ten with a roster average age of 20.64 years. Of the 138 FBS teams, only 15 teams average under 20, which is not surprising in the transfer portal era, with many teams seeking a veteran-heavy roster.

Nebraska’s roster currently comprises 14 freshmen, 11 redshirt freshmen, 43 sophomores, 30 juniors, and 18 seniors. The Huskers also have players in their fifth and sixth college football seasons.
