NCAA gives update on aviation unions strike

Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has assured striking aviation unions that the issue that led to their industrial action would be tackled as soon as the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, returns from an official trip abroad.

A statement by the Director, General Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Ona Najomo, appealed to aviation unions to sheathe their swords in their ongoing industrial action.

Najomo said the NCAA was aware of the ongoing industrial action by aviation unions and its impact on passengers and other stakeholders.

According to him, the matter would have been addressed at the meeting convened by the Honourable Minister last week, but the meeting could not be held as the airline operators failed to honor the invitation.

The agency assured the travelling public that flight safety remains uncompromised, stressing that it continued to exercise its statutory safety oversight responsibilities.

“We appeal to all parties to embrace dialogue and cooperation. We are confident that the matter will be resolved shortly and normal flight operations will resume as soon as practicable.
